In September 2015, the Razorbacks were born out of the shared passion and unyielding determination of two individuals who loved American football and envisioned creating a team. Competing in the prestigious Irish American Football League (IAFA), a league with over 25 years of history, our journey began. Our team's inaugural practice session took place against the backdrop of the Newforge Country Club in Belfast, on a brisk and rainy Sunday, the 18th of October 2015.
Making our debut in the IAFA's development league, our first match was a spirited encounter with the Derry and Donegal Vipers on April 10, 2016. Despite the loss, the match showcased our resilience and tenacity, with the game remaining closely contested until the final quarter when fatigue set in.
Our inaugural season was foundational, focusing on team building and honing our skills. This dedication bore fruit when we secured our first victory against the Galway Warriors, a testament to our hard work and commitment.
As word of our team's spirit and drive spread, we've seen our ranks swell to over 50 players and coaches, each adding their strength to our collective endeavour.
Our ambition is to continue this growth, building on our successes and facing challenges head-on.
This journey is not just about playing a sport; it's about building a community, fostering resilience, and pursuing excellence, both on and off the field.
Our matches, typically held on Sunday afternoons, attract a loyal following of fans who support us come rain or shine; come down and join us. See what it’s all about.
